The YM-YWHA opened in 1924 as a cultural center for Newark Jewish activity. Its first director was Dr. Aaron G. Robison. Most of the funding for the building came from a $500,000 Building Fund Campaign, held May 10-17, 1920, and from the generosity of Louis Bamberger, owner of Bamberger's Department Store. |
